Global Youth Conference on Sustainable Development Goals

Amplifying Youth Voices

The Global Youth Conference on SDGs is an annual event initiated by Precious Island to create a collaborative platform for young leaders to address pressing global challenges and contribute towards achieving the SDGs in Indonesia and globally.

The Challenge

Limited Platforms for Youth Collaboration on SDGs

Young people in Indonesia are eager to contribute to achieving the SDGs but often lack platforms for collaboration, networking, and skill-building to drive impactful change. This challenge is especially compounded in times of national crisis such as the COVID 19 pandemic and has presented a hurdle for sustainability efforts and long-term community projects.

Our Solution

An Annual Youth Conference for Learning and Action

Precious Island developed the Global Youth Conference (GYC) as an annual, inclusive, accessible event featuring webinars, online panels, competitions and local projects that brings youth together to discuss SDG, exchange ideas, develop concrete solutions and take positive action in Indonesia.

Results (Impacts)

Transformative Impacts: Creating a Movement of Young Changemakers

  • Network Expansion: Established a network of youth leaders, experts, and stakeholders across all provinces in Indonesia (and some international participation). Highlight number or reach where possible (from both articles), and make an impactful statement, even if that is about increased participation year by year.
  • Knowledge Enhancement: Provided platform for discussions with key people and knowledge transfer to youth participants on various SDG topics like water, career planning, and sustainable waste management (or use the main themes from 2022 report such as climate action, ocean conservation etc)
  • Skills Development: Facilitated development in soft-skills as well as specialized workshops like the eco enzyme, sustainability mentoring, creating a water filtration and sanitation systems and more.. Focus on tangibles and real-world application from your trainings.
  • Action Implementation: Inspired students to act in their communities, develop community projects, such as water and sanitation, eco-gardening projects, develop business with a sustainable element as well as become an active voice within their communities.

Through GYC on SDGs, Precious Island not only helped equip youth with relevant information and resources, it also actively build collaboration skills with people from all over the country. By providing opportunities for shared ownership through trainings, conferences and active support through the projects, GYC has had a transformative effect on each individual as well as local communities. Each year will not only contribute to the annual event but more impact to our future stakeholders.
