Precious Island co-organized the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Research & Development Conference in Bali, 2023. This initiative convened global experts to advance innovative ocean science, addressing critical challenges and fostering collaboration for a sustainable blue economy.

The conference addressed the crucial need to connect global and interdisciplinary research to local impact, by presenting findings in ocean sustainability, focusing specifically on innovations and technology to promote conservation and a sustainable blue economy, while emphasizing a community-centric approach.
Our Solution (Our Role)
Precious Island’s Contribution: Organizing a Collaborative Research Forum
As co-organizers, Precious Island facilitated discussions, strategic presentations and network connections among a diverse set of participants including: scientists, policymakers, academics, industry partners and government. By carefully coordinating various different aspects of this event from logistical and administrative work, Precious Island helped support a successful event that served as a hub to connect and exchange information across sectors in achieving a shared objective of creating innovative sustainable practices for our oceans.
Fostered collaboration and knowledge sharing between scientists, practitioners, policymakers and government entities working on marine conservation. Highlight the main objective to give tangible examples from presentations, what problems they are trying to solve using sustainable innovation.
Highlights & Next Steps
The Conference called for ongoing research, policy support, increased investments and community initiatives as critical steps forward in the global movement toward a sustainable Blue Economy. Building on the foundation set, further dialogue and engagement across all sectors of society was required to scale change and drive positive and transformative impacts in oceans.
